New Year
Looking back on 2004, personally it's been a good year. We completed our move from Norman, Oklahoma to Lyons, Colorado though we're still getting settled. There's still work to do.
On a broader scale:
- The best news of the year was SpaceShipOne's winning of the X-Prize by Burt Rutan, Paul Allen, and their team.
- The worst news of the year was the Indian Ocean tsunami. Roger Simon remembers Phuket and urges us to not only give direct aid, but help them get back to business as usual, buy Southeast Asian.
- WindsOfChange.NET looks at WHY 2004 WAS THE YEAR OF THE BLOG. Blogs are Open Source Journalism with a strong network effect.
- Zach Bean's 2004 Lisp Timeline lists some significant events in the Lisp programming community and solicits additional ideas.
- Newsforge lists the top 9 stories in Open Source Software. Most significant, is the domination of supercomputing by Linux.
